Furniture - Twilight Chases The Sun [2005]

Genre: Post-Rock, Shoegazing

MySpace: earsofa

My opinion & thought: One of my top 10 albums from Malaysia's indie bands. With the catchy & comforting tunes, simply won the critical acclaims from the local medias & fans.

Stands out track(s): I Am Ying, Postcards

At every turn, Furniture (Malaysia) attempts to strike that elusive balance between bold invention and comforting familiarity in its music. Described variously as post-rock, shoegaze and avant-pop, the band never strays far from being artful, honest, sweeping and emotional.

Two years in the making, Furniture released its debut album "Twilight Chases The Sun" to unanimous critical acclaim by the press and fans alike, some proclaiming it the local independent release of 2005.

Having played major regional music festivals such as Baybeats 2004, 2005, and 2006, Rock The World 6, plus Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand tours, Furniture is currently writing new material and previewing them at their upcoming shows.

Current line up includes: Ron, Adrian, Wan Rathnor, Alia, Alang
Past members include: Boon, Kacy, Jeremy
Session players include: Azmyl, Aziz, Lee Kwang, Keng, Adlin

Reviews:
"A sonic mish-mash of inter-woven guitars, clashing air-tight rhythms and symphony of keyboards and synthesized sounds forms the signature sound of Furniture. Thus, by carefully and meticulously placing the various bits and pieces together, Furniture creates a jigsaw of a fairy-tale like romance, conveying feelings of warmth and nostalgia."

"Furniture is the memory of things that never happened, dreams unclaimed, cherished heartbreaks, deliverance by escapism, the reconciliation of regret and hope. Set to the backdrop of panoramic landscapes slowly fading to white, furniture plays the unassuming soundtrack to the best films never made. A GREAT & AWESOME debut album from Malaysia post-rock band."
